Installing Webmin on Debian

This translation is made automatically from Russian

The file manager, log rotator and management system for the most common programs on Debian – Webmin. It may be required on the very low-load server and will help manage a heavy project.

Often the question arises: how to install Webmin on a server with Debian. I do not indicate the version, since the decision is one. I myself refer to this instruction.

The first step is to add the webmin repository in /etc/apt/sources.list

 nano /etc/apt/sources.list

I use the nano text editor – in my opinion the easiest, if you did not run the command above, then replace “nano” with the name of your editor or install:

 apt-get install nano

At the end of the file we add:

 deb http://download.webmin.com/download/repository sarge contrib
 deb http://webmin.mirror.somersettechsolutions.co.uk/repository sarge contrib

Save [Ctrl]+[X] and [y] and [Enter]. And move on: add the key.

 cd /root
 wget http://www.webmin.com/jcameron-key.asc
 apt-key add jcameron-key.asc

Installing webmin

 apt-get update && apt-get install webmin
